Domestic Production, Worldwide Acceptance
Quaker City Castings is uniquely equipped to put a spin on your centrifugal casting requirements.
Quaker operates 9 casting machines using wet and dry process technology. Melting is accomplished using 3 electric furnaces with a capacity of 9,000 lbs each (4,082 kg).
Inherent to the centrifugal casting process is a high degree of production flexibility, usually without costly tooling charges.
Quaker's inventory of permanent molds produce un-machined OD's ranging from 2.75" (70 mm) to 13.1" (333 mm). The ID size is established by the amount of molten metal that is poured into the spinning mold. Casting lengths vary from 44" (1,118 mm) to 57" (1,448 mm).
This in-house flexibility allows Quaker's Spin Doctors to produce a variety of centrifugal applications including cylinder liners, lapping pots, bushings, ni-resist piston inserts*, and heat shaped tubes. Parts are supplied as cast, rough machined, and finish machined to customers in such industries as:
- Automotive
- Truck
- Marine
- Power Generation
- Refinery
*Quaker City Castings is the only producer of piston inserts in North America, and a primary supplier to diesel piston manufacturers worldwide.
